(AP) ? Peyton Manning hopes to be throwing footballs again soon.

The four-time league MVP gave reporters his latest medical update Friday, saying his workouts will increase and that the next phase of rehabilitation process will include throwing the ball.

That was just before he headed back to the weight room to lift.

Manning has still not been cleared to practice with his teammates. He hasn't practiced since Sept. 8 when he had his latest surgery to repair a damage nerve that was causing weakness in his throwing arm.

Manning sounds encouraged by the latest news, saying the recovery is going as well as expected though there is no timetable for his return.
