This inaugural edition of In Motion, opening on 15 February 2013 at Peacock Visual Arts, is an exciting prospect for animation and film lovers in Aberdeen. The packed programme has been co-curated by Susie Wilson of Projector and Manipulate fame, and artist/animator Thomas Hicks. Here, Peacock Visual Arts? The festival has been organised by Peacock Visual Arts in partnership with the much-loved Belmont Picturehouse. The audience will get to watch a diverse selection of short and feature films that they may not otherwise have the chance to experience on the big screen ? like Swedish/Danish film Metropia (2009) by Tarik Saleh on 23 Feb and family-friendly A Town Called Panic (2009) by Stephane Aubier and Vincent Patar.

We?re all very excited to be hosting an exhibition of Thomas?s work here at Peacock?s, which will include a selection of his own distinctively styled short films. Thomas is also exhibiting a collection of drawings, paintings and sketchbooks, giving you a rare peek into his working methods and techniques. He will present concept artwork, props and animation frames from the varied music videos and short films he has worked on. His work is eclectic, intriguing and accessible.
For those people who want to get involved in a hands-on fashion, we have a programme of workshops for all ages: short drop-in classes, weekend workshops and a Thomas Hicks drawn animation workshop on 16 February (hurry up and book this one ? there are only a few places left!).
In Motion?s aim is to provide some light relief to the Aberdeen winter! To offer entertainment for all ages, and opportunities to start new hobbies and have some fun!
In Motion Animation Festival runs from 16 February ? 9 March at Peacock Visual Arts and The Belmont Picturehouse, Aberdeen with an opening event at Peacock Visual Arts on Friday 15, 6pm, all welcome.
