It takes some major factors to consider when settling on a career path. From what you've said, it seems a technology path seems the best fit. That's a vague answer though, so let's get more specific!
Now, you're obviously a patient and well-mannered person with a good head on their shoulders when it comes to helping others. Since you already have a strong past in technology, I don't think psychology would be the most optimal route. However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't take that personal assest into consideration for technical path.
You mentioned being good at statistics - have you ever heard about Web Analysts (see sources)? They use tools like Google Analytics to research a plethora of data/statistics and give reports on such data to clients. They're able to break-down websites to a very specific level and increase performance in a broad range of areas - such as improving traffic, increasing e-commerce success, design flow, etc.
This type of field would require working with people, statistics and math. You could even work freelance as an entrepreneurial businessman or join an already established business doing simliar work.
When picking a career, you should establish your primary skills (computers/technology) and determine your own personal skills/assets (working with people, patience, statistics). After that, you get creative! Don't settle for a cookie-cutter job - find your specialization and niche, then run with it!
As we all know, it's a difficult question to answer. Just stay true to what you're best at, then combine it with what you're passionate about! You could be a Web Analyst who specializes in helping websites that revolve around helping people through psychology. Get creative!
And when you do find your career path, you should consider hiring a performance consultant of some kind. They research your field in-depth and those who have already achieved success in it. Might seem a bit much, but they really are helpful and push you to go beyond the average standards - I highly recommend it!
