Do You Need a Mold Inspection? | Elle Marie

When you are looking to hire a company to inspect your home for mold you should be sure that they do not also remove mold. If you are hiring a company that removes mold they might be tempted to overestimate the amount of mold which is on your premise. They might be tempted to tell you that there is more mold than there might be in order to get a higher fee from you. While many companies are trustworthy, you should only hire an inspector if they do not also remove mold.

When mold testing is performed it is generally done using a method that is called air testing. This method draws air through a machine and then sends it to a lab testing container. From here this container is sent to a lab where it is prepared for testing by being cultured. This might take up to a week or so. When doing an air test there should be a reading taken from outside the house.

This will help to show what types of mold can be found in the surrounding environment. You should be wary that testing can be expensive. You should not allow the company to do more tests than are necessary. If you are not sure about how many tests are needed you should call another company. Do not be afraid to get more than one quote when you are looking at inspections for mold. This form of testing is not highly accurate. It will only show the mold that was in the area at that specific time. This can change greatly throughout the different seasons and climates that your home will experience. When you are testing outside in areas with lots of snow, the test results might be useless. This is because airborne spores will not be very high in numbers. That does not mean that there is no mold around, it is simply not in the air. This type of test also has no solid information to judge by. There is only the dish containing the cultured air to look at and inspect.

Even the greatest tests cannot tell you how much mold the people living in your home have to deal with. This is the information that you really want to know. If the mold in your home is affecting the people living there you have a problem. If a test can tell you the specific type of mold that you have it does not really matter. This is not necessary. If a test can tell you that you have bad mold that is all you need to know. There is no point in wasting money on expensive testing that will not give you an accurate reading.

If you are having trouble with mold in your home, or you believe you might be, you should get an inspection. This will help you to find out if you need to hire someone to remove the mold from your home.
