Workout Routines To Try: Cy-Yo, Where Cycling Meets Yoga | The ...

By Jessie Leventhal

What it is: Cy-Yo, a core-strengthening, aerobic workout, combines two of the best fitness workouts: yoga and spinning. Designed to bring the mind, body, and spirit together, Cy-Yo warms you up with 10 minutes of yoga, gets your blood pumping with 40 minutes of speed and then cools you off with 10 minutes of yoga. (Similar classes ? like Cycle In/Yoga Out ? sometimes do 30 minutes of spin and then 30 minutes of yoga.)

The best pre-workout food!

Why we love it: It?s the ultimate double-whammy! No need to double-up your workout and take two classes at your gym (and spend 2 hours of your day working out!). Instead, kill two birds with one stone by combining spin and yoga all at once. You?ll increase your flexibility, get a great cardio burn, tone your muscles and even work towards spiritual enlightenment ? all for a clearer mind and body. By?the time you walk out of the class, you will have focused your mind and will re-enter the world feeling energetic and toxin free (and sweaty!).

How it got started: Curt Dalton, a trained fitness instructor of both yoga and cycling, founded the revolutionary exercise and created a Cy-Yo DVD in 2007. Although this fitness routine has been around for a couple of years now, here at The Beauty Bean. We had (sadly!) never heard of the reputable routine until we tried it recently.

The hardest interval training we?ve tried!

Where to do it: Although Curt isn?t currently teaching any classes (that we know of?), head to Amazon to purchase the DVD. Trust us, your body will thank you! Also, ask at your local gym about Cycle In/Yoga Out classes.

Here?s how to boost your metabolism!
