AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State University President Steven Leath has appointed a committee to conduct the search for ISU's next No. 2 administrator.Elizabeth Hoffman, who has served as executive vice president and provost since 2006, has asked Leath to begin a search to fill her position. She served in the position since 2007 under now-retired President Gregory Geoffroy, who Leath replaced last month. It is common for new university presidents to hire their own team during a leadership transition.Hoffman will continue to serve until the end of this year, unless she accepts another position or a new provost can begin sooner. The search committee is 17 members including university professors, deans, executives, and student body government president. The chairwoman is Wendy Wintersteen, dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.Copyright 2012 by The Associated Press.
